This 1993 re-print is a project of the American Canal and Transportation Center. It covers such topics as the major river drainage basin and the conditions created by Pennsylvania weather and its topography. Then it launches into examinations of floods ranging from the Pumpkin Floods of the 19th century, through the Johnstown Flood, the floods of 1936 and 1955, and the great flood of 1972 and its effects along the various river valleys. Such subjects as flood forecasting and flood control are also discussed.
